The City is looking into working with TxDOT to set up a "mitigation" bank here for their impacts to NLTs from transportation projects.
Navasota Ladies'-tresses F 2 Texas Coastal Ecological Services Field Office (281) 286-8282 Navasota ladies-tresses Spiranthes parksii 1 13 Ensure that the safe sites are secure from possible impacts from surrounding area Not Started Other USFWS Regional Office 2 - Albuquerque, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Office of Endangered Species Acquisition, Acquisition: Easement, Management: Habitat Maintenance and Manipulation, Management: Planning, Management: Land Use, Research, Research: General Labor type not yet selected Buffer areas need to be established, particularly around the Alum Creek safe site, due to intense development pressure in the area. This development could alter hydrologic patterns affecting the distribution and abundance of NLTs on the safe site. 13-1 Develop computer-based region-wide predictive models to identify critical areas of species' habitat that may be threatened. Ongoing Current Labor type not yet selected Work type not yet selected Dr's Smeins and Rogers of TX Agrilife Research are developing these models. Predict that work will be complete by Jan 2015 (from K.Clary, Aug 2014).

Navasota Ladies'-tresses F 2 Texas Coastal Ecological Services Field Office (281) 286-8282 Navasota ladies-tresses Spiranthes parksii 3 24 Establish and maintain a long term (5-year) survey program to elucidate actual distribution of S. parksii Not Started Other USFWS Regional Office 2 - Albuquerque, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Office of Endangered Species Work type not yet selected Labor type not yet selected Survey efforts inhibited by a series of recent dry years. Distribution has expanded from four counties listed in the Recovery Plan, to thirteen counties. In Nov 2013, habitat evaluations and species surveys were recommended as part of Section 7 consultations with the USACE on several future lignite mine projects. The NLT Recovery team proposes to develop current survey and monitoring protocols. Surveys were conducted by National Forest Service folks from end of October-mid December 2013; no occurences were found on their property. The species has not been documented on the Angelina Nat'l Forest for over 11 years (T.Philipps pers.comm.2014).
