Due to dry conditions earlierin the spring, bladderpod on the refuge tracts was almost finished blooming and fruit was evident. By June 14, bladderpod on Martinez Ranch was dried up but still aboveground and seeds were still evident.

One population was damaged from herbicide spraying so a "No Spraying" sign was posted. Two other signs saying "Sensitive Habitats" were placed in areas that had evidenct damage, the Arroyo Ramirez Refuge tract, and at another the Arroyou Monteros as a preventitive measure. Damage on these sites were thought to be from ATV damage from Border Patrol agents. In FY 18, TXDOT carried out early coordination with FWS regarding potential impacts to bladderpod from a highway project that may require moving some plants. 1.3-1 Coordinated with AEP on the Cuellar tract of the LRGVNWR. AEP chose not to do any vegetation maintenance within the Rights of Way due to the presence of the species and the low height of the brush under the power lines.
